I originally posted this in comp.os.msdos.apps, before discovering this group. Since posting it, I've patched QEMM (v5.12) as per the Quarterdeck tech notes. Everything's hunky dory until I load *anything* hi with QEMM, including DR DOS and its memory buffers. I've excluded B000-B7FF from QEMM's management, but to no avail. Thanks for any help you might offer! -Paul Original post (yesterday)... Windows keeps dying with this message: "Windows could not continue due to a paging error." Or very close to that. I eliminated all the QEMM "Exception 13" problems by not running any of my TSRs (I'll come back to that later :-), but this problem persists. It happens after I've started lots of DOS apps (between 4 and 8) running full screen, and always occurs when I'm Alt-Esc'ing from the app back to Windows. The User's Guide has almost no information on system errors, and MS doesn't have an 800 number for support! I'll call them tomorrow, but thought I'd tap the immense bank of net knowledge as well. Thanks for any and all suggestions. Here's my setup: Hardware: 33MHz 386 clone (reputable dealer in town, for what that's worth) 100MB toshiba disk (or was it Hitachi?) Paradise VGA+ card with 512K Software: (pared down to isolate this problem) DR DOS 5.0 (loaded in low mem) - no RAM disk, etc. QEMM 5.1 - just QEMM386.sys. Nothing loaded high. Windows 3.0 - brand spanking new. I ran "configure DOS applications" after installing Windows. Other than that, it's straight off the disks. I'll try using HIMEM.SYS from Microsoft tonight and see if I can reproduce the problem. -Paul Tobin pgt@hpfcla.fc.hp.com
