COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP WITH EXPERT ADVICE ?

I am having a lot of trouble with Windows 3.0 locking up my system
mistereously, and was hoping someone could drop me some hints. Both the
tech suppport people at Microsoft and at Gateway 2000 don't know how to
deal with it, and fault each other.

The problem is the following:

** When running Windows 3 in 386 mode the system will completely lock up,
without any previous warning. These lockups cause the mouse pointer to
freeze, and the keyboard becomes unresponsive ( numlock or caplock won't
change the status of the LED). At this point all I can do is reboot.
This can happen any many different kinds of operations, and does not follow
any specific patern. It can occur during a file load, or a window resize,
or even a click on the OK button after I requested an ABOUT...

** My system is configured as follows:

GATEWAY 2000 386/25 no cache, with 4Mb on board.
        AMI BIOS.
Video7 fastwrite VGA board with 512k.
Always IN-2000 SCSI host adapter with 150Mb Micropolis drive.
	Creative Labs sound blaster.

** Settings:

SCSI has BIOS set to d800 base address (c800 is used by video )
and used DMA channel = 100 and IRQ = 14.

Sound Blaster is set standard configuration: DMA = 220 and IRQ = 7

I have tried changing DMA channel on the SCSI and the Sound Blaster, and
ran without the SB board. I found none of the configurations was fully
working. It might be some DMA conflict, but this conflict is not with the
SB board since removing it doesn't help.

Also I tried IteruptHDIrq = off and EMMEXCLUDE=C000-FFFF to no avail.

If anyboby has even the slightest hint about this problem, please send
me a message, or post. Your time and effort will be gratly appreciated.

		Thank you,
