[net.auto] advice on old 911 cams?

prins@cornell.UUCP (Jan Prins) (02/27/85)

Hi. If you can help me on this obscure request you will save me a gamble.

I have to replace the cams on a Porsche (flat six) 2,0T motor. Porsche
produced a 2,0L motor in 68-69 that used longer duration cams with higher
compression pistons. Are the "L" cams compatible with "T" pistons?

There seems to be widespread uncertainty about this combination, so I will have
to measure the installed clearances carefully. The snag is that there are some
L cams available cheaply, but they are non-returnable. If anyone out there
*knows* this combination doesn't work, reply by mail and save me some money.

Thanks much! Jan Prins at {vax135|decvax}!cornell!prins (UUCP)
