I also own a Volvo turbo, and have had no problems with it (I've owned it for a little over a year, and it was used when I got it) The car now has 55k miles, and as far as I know has never had the turbo touched. (I got the repair slips with the car when I got it) It does need some work in that I think there is a bad seal somewhere, cause oil is leaking (VERY slowly though, not enough to worry me with the 3k mile oil change interval) As for spinning up/down Volvo recommends starting without pressure on the accelerator, and not revving the engine until you see oil pressure. (this is a source of one of the complaints I have about the car. The oil pressure gauge is 0-3 Bar (measurment of pressure) but the Turbo has higher than 3 bar pressure. SO as soon as you start the car, the gauge is pegged at 3barr. In 1982 (mine is an 81) they changed to a 0-5 bar gauge) Spin down is pretty much a function of how fast you were going before you shut the car off. If you just pull in from an interstate going 55 (hee hee) you should spin down for about a minute, if you have just come down the side street at 15, 15 or 20 seconds should do just fine. (I usually put the windows up, close the sunroof, and take off the seatbelt. Then shut off the car) bill jackson
