I normally access 'cica.cica.indiana.edu' via the BITNET server by sending mail to 'BITFTP@PUCC.Princeton.edu' with this sort of text: FTP cica.cica.indiana.edu UUENCODE USER anonymous CD /pub/pc/win3/uploads GET mewin_ok.zip GET wingif10.zip QUIT This has ALWAYS worked fine.....until my last mail. My last transmisson resulted in: 18:41:27 > FTP cica.cica.indiana.edu UUENCODE * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BITFTP is no longer able to provide service to * * * * nodes that are not directly on EARN or BITNET * * * * or NetNorth. Your node appears to be * * * * accessible from BITNET only via a mail-only * * * * gateway. If you believe that your node is * * * * directly on BITNET or NetNorth or EARN, please * * * * send mail to MAINT@PUCC specifying your * * * * BITNET/EARN/NetNorth node name. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Thus, it appears like I have lost my connection to cica. I do not know if my node is directly on BITNET et al so I am at a loss. Anybody have any suggestions? Help! Thanks joec@morgan.com
