I'm using a Logitech mouse, and Windows 3 on a 386 SVC (Sillicon Valley Computer) 25 Mhz. Every time I move my mouse while Windows is working (opening a window, drawing a picture,...) I lose my cursor (amd my mouse). The only solution I found is to run a mouse-user soft (like PcShell) from Windows, and then to come back to Windows. Tedious !! HELP ME !!!!!!! Try the following: 1 - Use the newest Logitech driver 5.01 (you can get it from SIMTEL, if not drop me a line and I'll email it to you). 2 - click on the 386 icon in windows and choose the COM port that the mouse uses and set the option to Never Warn, then press the OK button. I also am using a Logitech Mouse on a Wang 386 Computer with Windows V3. I find that the mouse only partly works on Lotus 1-2-3 V3. It will not work at all with Xtree Gold V2 (or the previous version) either. I have loaded the mouse driver in either config.sys or autoexec.bat - it doesn't matter which. Windows 3 is happy with the mouse, as is all windows products. It is only DOS windows (full screen) that are in trouble. I managed to fix Xtree by re-loading the mouse driver via a batch file before running Xtree in a DOS vitual window - full screen mode. Lotus does not work the same way though. As a matter of interest my home machine - a clone 386 with windows 3 and a True Mouse and the same config.sys and autoexec.bat works correctly on Xtree and Lotus. A.J. My system is a clone 386-25 with a Z-NIX mouse in COM1. Anyone got the cure (or a good reason why this happens?). ...steve... ---------------------------------------- Steve Rosen attmail!srosen srosen@attmail.com ----------------------------------------

As a matter of fact Windows send me an error message, as it cannot use the mouse on COM1 port, if this port is consecrated to a non- windows application (!). I'm surprised for it's the very first time it acts as it does. Is there any good people who's using both a LOGITECH and WINDOWS with(out) problem(s) ?? JP pujol@mirsa.inria.fr Thanks in advance !

I swapped my HD controller and all was solved. Alternatively, your problem could possibly be the mouse driver. -- amf@ecs.soton.ac.uk Dr. Andrew Fountain Tel: +44 703 592831 Dept of Electronics and Computer Science Fax: +44 703 593045 University of Southampton Telex: 47661 SOTONU G Southampton SO9 5NH England

There are three things you may try, though I cannot warrante any will work: 1. Load the mouse driver from logitech FROM DOS. BEFORE you start windows. 2. Add the following to your mouse.com or mouse.sys command line: If you load the mouse driver using CONFIG.SYS DEVICE=C:\MOUSE\MOUSE.SYS /M:2 If you are loading the mouse driver from autoexec.bat c:\mouse\mouse.com /m:2 3. You can change the following setting in system.ini under the 386enh section: MouseSoftInit=false (the default is true)

One other thing to try, boot without your TSR's. I finally had to set up my autoexec.bat files to not start my TSR's when I was going to run Windows. One of them (I forget which) caused Windows to mess up the screen when I moved the mouse while the hourglass was up.

I'm using a LOGITECH serial mouse (on serial port 2) with my 20Mhz DTK 386 clone with no problems. I upgraded to DOS 5.0 a few days ago and so far the mouse is still working fine (even though DOS 5.0 gave me a message about my mouse driver being unsupported). I load my mouse driver via my autoexec.bat . When I first bought windows, I thought that the driver in windows would handle my mouse. I had many problems. Since I started loading the driver from my autoexec.bat I have had no problems. Long ago I also tried loading the driver via config.sys, but I had problems (which may have been due to other problems that I had at the time), so I haven't tried that again. --- Marnix A. van Ammers Pacific Bell ESAC 415-645-5196

I'm sorry, but you have to be more specific.
Are you using a busmouse (which interrupt) or a serial one (which com-port) ?
I' using a busmouse (INT 5) on a 386 with Win 3 at 24 Mhz and it works fine.
(If I try INt 2-4 the mouse behaves wired).
Regards
Michael

I used to have Logitech driver 5.01 on. (I got it from cica). But everytime I started up WinQvt, the mouse cursor freezes. Any idea on what the problem might be? I have a 386 20MHZ with EGA( Yes , I know I should switch to 1024 a long time ago. But I am still in college. Ergo, I am still poor). Anyhow, I have 4 megs of ram with a 2 meg swapfile. I set smartdrive to 1024k and ramdrive to 1500k. I go so mad I switched back to the old driver (version 4.10, I think). Drop me some mail if you have a suggestion. I currently load my \mouse\mouse.sys in thru config.sys because I want to use it for DOS applications. The only thing that I can think of is that your mouse may not be on what Windows 3.0 uses for the default, COM1: Maybe moving the mouse there may help.
