When I try to run communications packages under Windows, the programs seem to hang after anywhere from 15 seconds to several minutes of connection to the remote host. This happens with both Procomm and the Terminal utility that comes with Windows. The modem usually requires a hard reset to free it after this happens. I've tried all three modes of Windows with the same result. I am also confidant that the usual parameters are set correctly (stop bits, parity, baud, terminal emulation type, etc.) since everything works OK under DOS. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Dave McGuigan AT&T Bell Labs 908-949-2409

You may have to define the IRQ and Base address of the COM port you are using in your system.ini if you are not using COM1 or COM2. I don't think all PC vendors adhere to standards for this so you may have to define it yourself. For more info on how to do this read the sysini.txt files in your windows directory.
