[comp.windows.ms] DMA / handscanner incompatability problem.

erhugo@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu (Eric R Hugo) (06/27/91)

I have a Marstek 105 handscanner that I have been trying to use in
Win 3.0 with the scan software that comes with it. The scanner uses
DMA1 for its interface. When I first tried to use it within wndows
I got an error mssg. saying to increase the DMABufferSize= line in
[386enh] section of the system.ini file to 064. I did this and now
the software comes up, clears thescan buffer, but as soon as I press
the scan button on the scanner the pgm crashes back to windows and I
get the HORRIBLE mssg--> System Integritiolated...close and reboot.
Aack! Has anyone out there managed to get around this type of problem?
I've tried other DMA buffer setting but no luck. If anyone has any
bright ideas or can point out something I've missed please let me
know by email. BTW the machine is a 16MHz 386, 4 meg ram, Phoenix bios,
C&T chipset. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
