To further clarify my problems with Qemm,Dos 5.0, and windows: I found one problem with the shadow ram. When I ran the hardware shadowing the memory at the dos prompt in windows was 330 with manifest telling me that conventional memory ended at 330k. Then I ran the shadowing with the rom switch in Qemm - removing the hardware rom shadowing. With this setup I got 456k at the dos prompt in windows. I then tried the same rom setup and used the Dos=high,umb with devicehigh and dos'es loadhigh. I now get 612k at the dos prompt in windows. So far, so good. My last problem is: I can not get windows to run under Desqview. It starts to load, and almost makes it, and then the screen blanks and the program code starts scrolling across the screen with many beeps from the speaker. This locks up the computer so bad that even the reset button does not reboot the computer! As before: does anyone have any suggestions? James Pollman nbpy@vax5.cit.cornell.edu
