Ralph: For a while, at least, Ford was offering a Diesel engine with their small pick-up. I believe that it was a 2.3L four. Further, it sounds like it may have been the european built four, which has been around for a few years, and seems to last. Of course, I am only writing what I think, someone may know the REAL facts. Also, because sales really have been lagging, make sure that Ford still offers the engine and that your local dealer can do guarantee servicing. After that, I would take the engine to a truck repair shop, so you could check to see whether your local Ford truck shop (as in BIG truck) can service the burner. Bernard H.
