[comp.windows.ms] WFW and fonts

mmeltzer@eng.umd.edu (Marc Meltzer) (06/21/91)

I use Windows 3.0, Word for Windows, and Adobe Type Manager 1.0.
I have close to 100 fonts but only a few will show up on the font list in WFW (and for that matter, paintbrush and several others).

Does anyone know how to fix this problem, because I really would like to know.

	Thanks in advance.

I only can guess what your problem is, but maybe some hits are of value for you.
1. After installing a new font for ATM you have to enter the configure menu
of your printer driver. WFW maintains its own fontlist for the various
printer driver and you have to force an update.
2. ATM supports but only for fonts per fontfamily. Among them are
Normal (Roman or Medium), Italic, Bold, Bolditalic.
If your have Bookman, Demi, Condensed, Extrabold, etc., you may try the
   following workaround:
Change the familyname in the PFB-File to a new one and
change the familyname in the AFM-File (to be the same as above :-) ).
Then you need to convert the AFM to the PFM-File (can be done with
a PD progs named REFONT I mentioned in an earlier posting - if there
is enough interest (and no objections), I will mail it to this group.

The AFM-Files can be downloaded from Adobe.

I don't have problems using a lot of Adobe type 1 Fonts from WFW, Excel,
Write, etc.

Hope that helps

I am very sorry, REFONT is SHAREWARE, NOT PD.
My apologies for this mistake...
