I'm looking to buy a Mazda RX-7 and would like to know if
anyone out there knows of a trustworthy Mazda dealership
in North-Central NJ.

Please respond to the net since my login and path
are changing soon. Thanks.

Having just purchased a Mazda 626, there are a few dealers I would NOT
recommend. I bought mine from Towne & Country in Toms River. The
deal I got was not too bad ($800 markup over list, but I got $500 over
book on my trade-in). However, they managed to find every reason possible
to lie to me.
I was told the aluminum wheels were standard, they charged
e $300 extra when the car came in. I picked up the car - they had not done
the rust-proofing, undercoating, and paint sealant. I wanted to cancel
the package, but they wouldn't let me since it was in the deal. So I
brought it in (a 40 mile drive each way). They didn't put the paint sealant
on -tried to say I never ordered it. After bringing in a 2 page typed
list of the way I was treated, they told me I could bring it back in for
the paint sealant.
At this point I don't trust them enough to lay a hand
on my car, so I won't get the paint sealant, or my money. I'll just tell
people like you - and anyone else reading this not to do business with them.
This only happened in the past 2 weeks and 1 of my friends already bought
a 626 from another dealer (the one in Red Bank) based on my lack of a
recommendation. I can't understand how they do business - several more
car sales with a profit margin of $3000-$4000 should be worth more than
a $389 rust-proofing package.
I could go on and on about the way the salesman, finance dept, service
dept, sales manager, general manager have dealt with me. It's not like
I have provoked any of it. I told them what I wanted on my car, told them
I was in no rush, and was satisfied that they found what exactly what I
wanted - in only a week.
As far as advice goes -try to avoid their rustproofing package. They
make a large profit on it and the warantee is good only at the dealer.
If they force you to get it - make sure you have in writing what it includes
and the warantee info. Also shop around - you can avoid that markup.
Look in the N.A.D.A. book for the value of your car - they'll try to take
advantage of you otherwise. Shop around for interest rates too.
Also avoid Dom's Mazda on Rt. 22 in North Plainfield - they are part of
the same enterprise. I don't know about the dealer in Bricktown. The one
in Red Bank is small, but they have a lot of RX7's or
you can use their locator service to get what you want.
    Good luck.

y the way, Town and Country Motors in Toms River also has a Chevy
Dealership. I bought my Camaro there back in '81. I had a very
similar experience to the one Judy had. Stay away from Town and
Country!
