Okay, here's something interesting. I understand how to install fonts into such applications as Word For Windows and so on. My problem is that I've acquired quite a set of *.fon files and I want to put them into my system file so that I can access them as I need them. I don't want to install all of them because they are total memory hogs. The problem I'm experiencing is this -- I installed some fonts to see what they looked like and when I wanted to deinstall them, Windows would not let me do so. Windows asks me if I want to remove the font but then it pops up and says "Unable to remove *.fon." The other problem is that all the installed fonts then disappear (except Helvetica, of course.) They're all sitting there in system and the Font Install in Control Panel even says they are there, but they don't show up in example of font. It's all very, very strange. Has anyone else had such a bizarre problem? The fonts I'm using were ftp'ed from cica.cica.indiana.edu (fonts.lzh) and also a similar file downloaded from a bulletin board here in Lovely Omaha Nebraska. I'm using a Compuadd 386sx, 2megs, 40meg hard drive with Stacker on software, Panasonic 1124 (printer works great when the fonts are there!) and Dos 5.0. As I said, I certainly am not keeping all these fonts installed at once, they're just in the same file. I want to be able to install them as I need them. But like I said, it won't let me deinstall them and the examples are disappearing. Is there something about Stacker or Dos 5.0 or the font install in the Control Manager itself that's fried? I looked up in my Compuadd Windows book and it tells me, of course not a darn thing. (Is there a Windows book that would actually have some USEFUL information in it, while I'm asking.) -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sharon Lindsey O'Neil "I could be happy/I could be quite naive/ Bitnet: oneil@unomai1 It's only me and my shadow/Happy in our Internet: oneil@zeus.unomaha.edu make believe/Soon." -- Tears for Fears ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
