[ 186,000 MPS - a law we can live with. ] I am considering buying a cheap (less than $100) radar detector as a birthday gift for an ex-girlfriend. In looking at this month's Road&Track, I saw an ad advertising these models: Fox XK visor mount for $85 and Fuzzbuster Elite II for $80. 1. Does anyone have any experience with these models? 2. Does anyone have any other suggestions for decent radar detectors in the less than $100 price range? 3. Does anyone have any pointers to recent tests in Car&Driver, Road&Track, Consumer Reports :-), or any other reasonable source? (Yes, I saw the article in the March issue of Car&Driver, but am not interested in remote systems. They are too expensive and, for my friend's needs, too much of a hassle.) Reply to me please and I promise to summarize. And thanks! -- Mike^Z Zaleski@Rutgers.Arpa [ allegra!, ihnp4! ] pegasus!mzal

Make up a box with a few lights, bells and whistles. Tell her it's the best one going. ("Don't worry, just keep it at a steady 85 over the bypass dearie. It's the latest with the hyperbolic paraboloid pick-up antenna. It'll pick up anything.") She should get a ticket - a real big, fat, expen$ive one - in no time. Then sit back and laugh! You did say EX-girlfriend, didn't you? :-) Doug Williams AT&T Bell Labs Reading, PA rduxb!williams
