This is my list of sites accepting anonymous ftp (login=anonymous,
password=<your login name>). I have just finished wading through over 1
meg. of mail with corrections, updates, etc. after returning from summer
vacation. I have also finally gotten around to automating the process of
checking current sites so this list should stay fairly up-to-date. I have
had to remove several sites that I could not access even though I was told
they were anonymous ftp sites so if you told me of something and it isn't
in this list that could be why. I also might have lost it in the deluge of
mail so please tell me again. Thanks for being so patient.
If there are any corrections/updates/etc. to be made please mail me.
That also goes for descriptions of the archives. I don't have time to
personally check each and every site so I would be grateful if you use a site
and can put together a better description, please tell me so I can update
this list. I am having a VERY intense trio of classes this quarter so I don't
know how responsive I will be to updates and posting new lists but I will try
to keep up. Also, I have had several requests from people requesting that
sites have listings of what's available in the root ftp directory. I know
several places do so already but if there could be some sort of agreement of
a general format and name, it would make things much easier. I have been
telling people who ask that how they can do it for themselves with ls/grep/etc.
in the meantime. My mind is fried so excuse the rambling, I'm just trying
to repeat all that I have discovered in the past week. Again, please tell me
of any locations, files, etc. that I have missed. Oh, yeah. I post this
list to comp.misc and will attempt to post it to comp.archives.

Only f.ms.uky.edu should be used. It controls the disk with the ftp file system partition. The other machines will allow anonymous FTP because they have that file system NFS mounted, but ftping though them results in slowing the system down through NFS accesses. Please use "f" only.
