This file contains information about accessing the archived files at
avatar and a list of sections and files archived. avatar is a 80386
based system with a 330 MB ESDI drive and a Telebit Trailblazer PLUS
modem. The Telebit autobauds at 1200/2400/19200(PEP). The getty on this
line is set for 19200/2400/1200. A typical L.sys entry would look like

This site primaraly archives comp.source.unix and various goodies from
comp.graphics. All files ending with a .Z suffix are compressed. Here is a
list of the sections in the archive directory:

and comp.sources.misc). Be sure to check it out.

This directory contains the complete B News 2.11 and all of the
patch files.

Ray Tracing News issues and other Computer Graphics related stuff.

Some posts from comp.sources.misc Volume 8 and 9. There really isn't
much in here, I didn't start archiving this group until recently.

comp.sources.unix from Volume 17 to Volume 20.
Getting to the Files
--------------------
To uucp any file from avatar to your system, you MUST supply full
path name. For example to get the file v18INF1.Z for the comp.source.unix
volume 18 section you must use this command:
uucp avatar!/usr/archive/comp/sources/unix/V18/v18INF1.Z /tmp/vfile
This command will get v18INF1.Z from avatar and put it in yor /tmp directory.
It will have the name vfile. Don't forget to use a "\" before the "!" if
your shell uses "!" as a meta character.
Do NOT use any wildcards in your file spec. For example, this command will
fail:
uucp avatar!/usr/archive/comp/graphics/RTN* /tmp
For security reasons, we don't allow any uux execution, and therefore the
above command will fail. You MUST specify a separate uucp command for
each file. If you must uucp more than one file, issue all of the uucp
command except the last one with a "-r" option. This will cause the
last command to place a call to avatar and do all of the transfers in
one session.
Other Information
-----------------
Please don't be a hog. If you have alot of files to uucp, get them in
multiple sessions and don't call back within an hour so that other
people can get to them also.
Also, this file gets updated quite frequently as new files are posted.
If you have an old version, you might want to get the latest version.
