Before I do that, though, I'd like to enlist the aid of a few adventurous system managers to help me give it a good test. A brief run-down of the features: interfaces with VMS MAIL via foreign mail protocol; supports SMTP over CMU-Tek TCP/IP; supports BITNET mail including mailer-to-mailer BSMTP over Jnet; supports mailing lists with automatic subscription handling; has a built-in file server. The package, called Message Exchange (MX), is VMSINSTALlable and comes with a simple question-and-answer configuration script. I can make the source code available as well, for those sites requiring it. If this sounds interesting to you, and you are running VMS V5.0 or later, CMU TCP/IP V6.4 (if you want SMTP support), and Jnet V3.4 (if you want BITNET mail support), drop me a line at: madison@vms.ecs.rpi.edu (Internet) or madison@RPIECS (BITNET) If you have Internet access and want to take a look at the documentation first, the manuals (installation guide and management guide) are available via anonymous FTP from vms.ecs.rpi.edu [128.113.5.15] in directory [ANONYMOUS.MX]. If you're on BITNET, just ask me to send you the manuals - I have them in PostScript and plain ASCII. If you're not on the Internet or on BITNET, we can make other arrangements. -- Matthew Madison, Systems Programmer | "First they built the world's standard.
