Zero cost. TeX etc, MF, Fontware etc were all compiled up from the
sources available from Score (and now Science). There are a couple
previewers available in source form for the ST. TFMs, fonts etc were
compiled up from their MF sources with Metafont.

 2. hardware....
  M4, but originally a 520 upgraded to 1M.
printer used (and any pertinent details-trials in getting it
	    to work)
Panasonic 1081. Zero trouble. Just compiled up DVIEPS and off it went.
    comments (bugs, koodoos)
It all works. I wish it was faster.

     TeX
     LateX
     metafont
     font files (pk, mf, whatever)

     printer drivers

I bought the discs from Current Notes. The metafont program would not work
as shipped. When asking for help from someone who posted the mention of
the CN discs they suggested getting MF from an archive. He even called
to find out how it worked. I haven't yet tried it.

 2. hardware....
 520 w/2.5M, 60M ICD based harddisk, Deskjet.

System a, Office:
          plain, gplain (German plain) TeX
          tools GmbH, Bonn, FRG
pk fonts \magstep0 - \magstep5, most LaTeX fonts in font libraries
universal screen/printer driver by tools GmbH
          supported devices: screen (95 dpi)
                             NEC P6 (360 dpi)
(fonts and printer not installed at present)
                             HP DeskJet (300 dpi)
price: ~350 DM including a lot of font disks
       comments (bugs, koodoos)
TeX is very fast, printer driver is fast
but triggers tos1.4 memory pool bug.
Screen driver supports high screen resolutions!
Cheap commercial TEX, GOOD support by
                             tools, extremly good price/value ratio!
 2. hardware....
          2x Mega4, 2x sh205 (one cabinet with a seagatest 251-1)
both machines upgraded with Hypercache (16 MHz) and tos 1.4
          both machines standard monochrome (sm124)
          1 HP DeskJet, 1 HP DeskJet+
Network being installed (Ethernet, PAM's Net, TCP/IP)
no problems getting the software to work.

System b, personal:

software:
plain, LaTeX, SliTeX, both English and German
StTeX for 2 Meg System by J. Bammi
          Metafont (German PD)
          dvist
at present no printer driver, I am going to build one myself
hardware:
          Hypercache Mega4, overscan (688x480 pxl on sm124)
GE-soft SCSI hostadapter, Fujitsu m2614 drive (180 MB)
          HP DeskJet+

I have just thrown away my illegal copy of tools' tex. The
printer driver will be rebuilt. Metafont runs nicely, no
          problems with installation.
