There is a large selection of PD soft fonts in the mims-iris font archive,
reachable by ftp at mims-iris.waterloo.edu, or by mailing to font-server@
mims-iris.waterloo.edu. Specifically, the directory /fonts/sfp/cm contains
the Computer Modern fonts from TeX, as converted by Rich Wales. Take a look.
