I have just made a beta release of 6.4 available for anonymous ftp
from the following host:

	dkuug.dk	(129.142.96.41)
	File: /pub/nn6.4beta.tar.Z

I hope you will be able to get it without problems, because I will be
tied up 100% on a project for the next two weeks, and I will not even
be able to read my mailbox (and much less answer any requests).

Since I am not able to spend any time on nn for a couple of weeks
the target date for the 6.4 release must be posponed. My new target
date for 6.4 is: April 2nd.

If you can't access the files, you can TRY to ask for help from
nn-bugs@dkuug.dk or keld@dkuug.dk.

If EVERYTHING fails (i.e. the file is corrupted or some files are
missing), try to write to chr@texas.dk - he might be able to get a
five minute interrupt" in my schedule, and I might be able to give him
a few directions to upload a new version or a missing file if it turns
out that the current version is corrupted or incomplete in some way.

There are a few things which are still not completely ready in
the beta release:

- The nngoback program is not thoroughly tested (you are welcome to
  test it!)

- The .rnlast support is based on "guesses" rather than knowledge.
If you can test this, please do so.

- The zero-data file problem is not solved (at least not conciously).

- The nntp socket still lacks the "keep-alive" code around it (Rene
was waiting for the beta to incorporate it).

- The manuals may need some polishing - any comments on these (except
regarding their size :-) are also very welcome.

- The NEWS-6.4 file is still incomplete, but it does tell you something.

- The old expire code is still used. I have some ideas which could
make expire much better with modest effort. I would really like to
make it "correct" in 6.4. The new target date might give me time to
  look at this.

Don't hold back your comments - thank you.
