It contains: date, rank, first name (or initials),lastname, remarks. Please note, that this is the ROYAL AIR FORCE and during the years 1914-1918, and the database has been provided to me by John Woodgate. The csoftec 'rootserv' mail archive server is a service which allows requests for searching thru a large database, and forwarding of the requested info on via regular uucp mail. To request info from the Air Casuality Database, simply, send a message to: rootserv@csoftec or rootserv@csoftec.csf.com No subject is required, and it is not read by my rootserv program. You may send one or more lines of text in the body of the msg using the following syntax. In other words, you may have more than one search request in the same msg. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Examples: send NAME from aircas to YOURUSERNAME@YOURHOSTNAME ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ | | | | | | | | | |_____ Your system hostname | | | |___________ @ (the @ sign) | | |___________________ Your user login name | | | |________________________________ see note: 1 |_________________________________________ see note: 2 Note 1: aircas is the first of several large databases files which will be available here in the near future. Note 2: Distribution is by mail in less than 100 line messages. If your request has created a msg of more than 100 lines, the server will send you a msg, to further narrow your NAME search and try again. Lets say you are user@system and you are requesting info for all the personnel in the database with the surname "Gray" then use the following syntax. Case makes no difference in the search pattern. send gray from aircas to user@system Isn't that simple ? QUESTIONS: Send messages which might need to be read by a human to: aircas-adm@csoftec.csf.com otherwise your request is all computer read and generated. ....and thanks for using this system, ....I hope you find something of interest ! ! ! ! /end of "air casuality help" file/ _=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=_
