You maybe want to know that there exists an non-profit organization
in France who distribute GNU stuff. It is called GNA.
It sells only one tape and it costs 1200 F (i.e. ~ $200). The
association then send back 500 F (i.e. ~ $80) to the FSF. This
distribution activity was previously done by Axis Design (April 89 -
June 90). Axis Design sold about 50 tapes and send back more than
20 000 F (i.e. ~ $3300) to the FSF. This is not much but I hope it helped
a little.
If you can't afford to buy a tape, you can still come in the
association's office with your own cartridge, and make the copy yourself.
An upgrade mechanism is also available. You can either send
a tape with stamps or come to the association's office.
The tape contains the following stuff :
compress,dist,gdb,gcc,g++,libg++,gas,bison,flex,
binutils,make,make-doc,rcs,sed,diff,grep,gawk,tar,
gnuplot,gperf,texi2roff,bash,indent,smalltalk,gdbm,
ghostscript,scheme,gnuchess,nethack,gnugo
I'm going to add cpio, find and groff next week.
