Milton.u.washington.edu will no longer be able to house the TV-related
archives shortly. This includes the episode guides to nearly 50
different TV series, the excellent troff/postscript version of the
"Star Trek: The Next Generation" guide, and illustrations and
pictures.

If you are willing to become the new Anonymous FTP site and maintainer,
drop me an E-mail message at cfogg@u.washington.edu (uw-beaver!milton.u.
washington.edu!cfogg).

I've made up a list of would-likes for the new archive site and maintainer.
(-) indicate necessities, (*) denote convenient options.

Would-likes:

  - The new site musn't be excessively finiky about disk space, as the
number of episode guides et al are bound to grow. Current volume for
"Star Trek: The Next Generation" files are 3 Megabytes, the other
    guides total around 2 MB.

  - Decent Internet/FTP connections.

  - Site has E-mail server or maintainer is willing to allow a server
to operate off his/her account (via .forward) or a separate
account. For instance, Raymond Chen's E-mail server can
automatically send files to the requester. The mail server allows
those who do not have Internet/FTP access to retrieve files for
themselves entirely by electronic mail. Chen's program requires
    perl to be installed.

  - Maintainer can patch updates via 'patch' command. A simple routine
    on Unix machines.

  * Maintainer is familiar with Troff and PostScript (TNG files).

  * Maintainer has/can install psroff binary on his/her machine
for patching of the TNG postscript guide.

  - Maintainer can make time to "maintain" the archives, which for
the most part entails copying, moving, and deleting files.

  - Maintainer is unbiased. Say you like M*A*S*H but abhor the
Simpsons, you would wouldn't let that effect your decision to archive
a popular Simpsons guide. We wouldn't want rebel archive sites
    starting up :-)
