The report of this workshop, which was edited by Ann Boyle and Bobby Caviness, has just been published by SIAM in their Reports on Issues in the Mathematical Sciences. Entitled "Future Directions for Research in Symbolic Computation", the report gives an excellent summary of the field, and can be obtained free of charge by sending a message to siampubs@wharton.upenn.edu.
