I didn't think there'd be such a huge response. I got no less than 8 offers for an ftp site, and nearly as many requests for the source code to my galaxy "flight simulator". It shouldn't be all that difficult to port to other systems really, as far as I remember all the mouse and graphic plot stuff was confined to a relatively small portion of one of the files (although opening the window and setting up message queues was non-trivial...) Anyway, here's the site: fed.expres.cs.cmu.edu, 128.2.209.58, in the file space/data/galaxy[.Z]. I'll send in the source code to the flight sim within 48 hours (Gotta find it first, and pretty it up with at least my name!) I should also mention that the program and data should only be used for not-for-profit purposes. In other words, don't take the data and sell it or use it in a commercial program without first contacting John Huchra at harvard. -- "The number of programs that can be done with the Hubble Space Telescope has always greatly exceeded the time available for their execution, and this remains true even with the telescope in its current state." -- HST Science Working Group and User's Commitee Report, 1990 June 29.
