In the last few days, i have filled the atari-directory of our anonymous
ftp-server at cs.uni-sb.de [134.96.7.254] with some interesting pieces of
software for TOS:

	- Of course we have the latest version of Emacs for TOS (as source,
compiled and not dumped or the ready-to-use dumped xemacs) together
with the gcc-library that was used to compile it.

	- A preliminary port of Bash (without jobs, background processes and
	  ulimit-setting).

	- A TOS-version of Larry wall's perl (including gdbm-routines).

	- Less for the ST.

I have included the file ~ftp/README below.

Welcome to our anonymous ftp server.

Please note:

0. To retrieve files, you need the following programs
(and know how to use them):

a) ftp (hmm... you ARE reading this already, so I suppose you've got ftp)
b) 16-bit compress/uncompress in order to be able to uncompress files
ending with .Z (available from the file compress.shar)
c) tar for files containing the string .tar in their name
d) sh (or compatible shell) for .shar files
e) cat (and output re-direction) for .split.?? files
f) for some strangely packed files you may need atob/btoa (available
   from the file atob.shar)

BTW our ftp server does understand the reget command, so in case your file
transfer is interrupted you may wish to try that.

1. DO's

a) when asked for the ftp password, give your login@domainname
b) make sure your system hasn't got the stuff you want to get
c) make use of the /tmp directory for sending stuff
d) avoid ftping during prime time - that is Mon-Fri from
09:00 to 18:00 local time for machine load.

2. DON'T's

a) forget to set binary mode where appropriate
(especially with .Z and .tar files)
b) put anything in any directory other than /incoming
c) don't send a lot of stuff unless it's requested

Please note: * ATARI stuff (~ftp/pub/atari) is maintained
               by Edgar Roeder (roeder@cs.uni-sb.de).
             * NO MS-DOS stuff on this machine.

Feel free to contact ftp@cs.uni-sb.de in case of problems.
