I am a little unfamiliar with packet drivers. I understand that they
are some sort of software interface to network adapter cards.
What standard interface(s) are they written to? How may I obtain a copy
of the specs for the interface(s)?
It is a DOS-specific low-level interface that assumes contiguous packet
buffers and enforced standards for MAC-layer demultiplexing. The spec
was originally designed by John Romkey; I maintain it these days. You
can get it via anonymous FTP from vax.ftp.com, in pub/packet-d.* (ascii
is, .prn is formatted for an HP Laserjet with TMS Proportional II font,
.prn is Borland Sprint).
