[net.auto] Suzuki "Jeep"

dikiw@mmintl.UUCP (Diki Wozniak) (04/11/85)

Does anyone have any experience with the Suzuki "Jeep"?

I understand that they have been sold in Canada for some time.
Has anyone heard of them being offered for sale in the U.S. yet.
One of the 4X4 mags ran a little article on them a while back that
was generally favorable. It said that they would be for sale here
soon. A friend said he saw one in New Haven.

I am also interested in comments from Owners of Isuzu Trooper II's
and Toyota 4X4's; re: reliability, on and off road performance,
	milage.

I saw several advertised down in Ft Lauderdale last spring(yes I
am too old to go on spring break , but what the hey ). I asked about
them on the net but got no responses then, maybe you'll have better
luck this time around.

The reason why they were available in Canada and not in the US
was due to our beloved EPA (seems they don't like 4 wheel vehicles
with 2 stroke engines). I don't know if the Suzuki "4X4" (that used to
be its name in the middle east where I first saw it) still has a
2 stroke engine or now has a 4- stroke.

In size it's quite a bit smaller than a regular CJ Jeep but
larger than a mini-moke. The engine used to be less than 1 litre but
who knows now.

In Florida I seem to recall it was offered through Suzuki
dealers(obviously) and Isuzu car dealers.
