Thanks to everyone who sent me advice regarding the overheating problem I had with my Dodge Omni. As it finally turned out the problem was a radiator which was so badly clogged that it could not be rodded. Apparently, the pressure from the water pump had spread the seams and only the scale inside was keeping it from leaking. Anyway, I ended up buying a new radiator (cost $150) which solved the problem, and the engine runs cool as a cucumber. I rather suspect that the original clogging was caused by the injudicious use of local tap water in the cooling system, which left hard water deposits in the core. Before the freeze it was probably running on just a few tubes which were plugged by loosened deposits, precipitating the crisis. Thanks again. Randal Nelson (nelson@cvl)
