The fire routines have been completely rewritten which should improve the server reliability. GB2.6 has been posted at scam.berkeley.edu in src/games/gb (log in anonymous ftp). MAKE SURE YOU GET THIS VERSION IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON STARTING ANY NEW GAMES SINCE IT HAS MANY PROBLEMS WORKED OUT. The new code seems to work great at caltech and I am installing it at Stanford game as soon as I can connect to the host machine. Make sure you read the new 'help fire'/fire.doc since the 'fire' command has been broken down into 3 commands, 'fire' (ship-to-ship), 'bombard' (ship-to-planet), and 'defend' (planet-to-ship). The old way of doing things was a total mess. Also, about segments. I put them in because it could be done. I am not going to halt progress because some people may not like the idea. If your GM doesnt want segments, he doesnt have to specify a segment interval when starting up the daemon. It will then run the way it used to. -Garrett
