The flood of postings on seatbelts lately has brought to mind the following
question:
After 10 years of continuous, faithful service (although never, thankfully,
having to serve their primary function), the seatbelts in my Alfa GTV are
wearing out. Specifically they are starting to fray where they go over the
sharp edge in and out of the reel housing.
Does anyone out there know where I can get the belts re-webbed? I've tried
several auto upholstery places but they consider the belts to be part of
the safety equipment and won't touch them. I've asked some body shops and,
although they install seat belt kits, don't know about refurbishing existing
belts.
I ask this as a generic question but if anyone in the SF Bay Area (especially
the East Bay) knows of a specific shop that does this please mail me. I'll
summarize if requested.
