This is a listing of all known sites that archive the postings to
vmsnet.sources and make those archives available to others through some
means. Please changes, corrections, comments, and most especially additions
to <tp@mccall.com>. Sites that only archive one or more specific software
packages are not listed here.

Access: Anonymous FTP, Mailserver (via internet only)

"In order to automate the archival process, the news batching command file
looks for a Subject: line in the form of 'Package nn of mm' or 'Package
nn/mm' and creates the files [PACKAGE]PARTnn.SHARE (let me know about any
other formats). The header 'Archive-name: package/file' creates the file
[PACKAGE]FILE.SHARE.

The files are available for anonymous FTP from Black.Cerritos.EDU
[130.150.200.21] and White.Cerritos.EDU [130.150.200.22]. These are VAX
6330/6320 cluster members running VMS V5.3-1 and Multinet V2.1. The files
are in [ANONYMOUS.MAILSERV.PACKAGE] and when I have the time and software,
I'll try to build the package and put it in
[ANONYMOUS.VMSNET]PACKAGE.BCK_Z.

Mailserver access is via MAILSERV@Cerritos.EDU. Place the mailserv
commands in the body of the message, one line per command. You can start
with 'help' and 'index'; 'send [package]partnn.share' will get you one of
the parts. Alas, no wild cards are supported.

Mailserv UUCP access is not supported. However, if you can pass mail
through an Internet gateway such that I get the request via SMTP, you get
your request handled OK."

"I am archiving most of the sources from VMSNET into the [ANONYMOUS.VMS]
area on ACFcluster.NYU.EDU. These files can also be picked up via VMSSERV
over bitnet by INTERACTIVE message only."

"In order to automate the archival process, the news batching command file
looks for a Subject: line in the form of '<Package> nn of mm' or '<Package>
nn/mm' and creates the files [<Package>]PARTnn.SHARE (let me know about any
other formats). Replace <Package> by a descriptive name for your software
package, which should be a legal VMS file name (name portion only, no
periods). The header 'Archive-name: package/file' creates the file
[PACKAGE]FILE.SHARE.

It would be helpful if you could use Archive-name: headers (preferred), or
the given subject line format. Other postings must be classified and stored
in the archive area by hand, which takes time and might not happen
immediately.
