Nnotes is a hacked up version of the nn client program that puts a 'notes-like'
user-interface onto nn. The source for nnotes 1.3 is available via ftp-anon
to a.cs.uiuc.edu as pub/nnotes.tar.Z.

For those not familiar with notes, notes was developed at the University of
Illinois in the early 1980s. It is quite popular here, partially due to its
excellent (IMHO) user-interface. Unfortunately, notes requires EACH machine
to store all of the articles. This architecture is no longer efficient given
the ever increasing amount of newsgroup traffic. Nnotes allows notes-lovers
to use 'notes' in a distributed enviornment.

I strongly suggest installing nn on your system before installing nnotes. This
is not required, but it makes things a lot easier.

Thanks to Kim Storm for allowing me to use the nn code for this. Also thanks
to Ray Essick and Rob Kolstad for allowing me to use parts of the original
notes code for this.

Please email any questions/comments/etc to rohit@uiuc.edu ASAP.
