Now, it's easy to observe satellites with computer! I have
made a program - TekoSim, which simulates methods for making
accurate satellite observations. The principle of the program
is a very simple. At first there are stars and constellations
on the screen. Then a satellite (a plot) will move accross the
screen. You must stop this satellite somewhere by pressing the
Enter-key. Now, the satellite will disappear and you must
remember where did you stopped the satellite. In the end the
program tells your observation errors and other iformation
about your simulation.

You can change properties of satellite's motion by the aid
of various menus e.g. velocity, flashing, Earth's shadow and
so on. There is numerous star backgrounds available too for
using satellite observing methods in your simulation.

The TekoSim is made with Turbo Pascal 5.5 and it needs about
80 kb memory. This program is available via anonymous-ftp in
file server funic.funet.fi (128.214.6.100) in subdirectory
pub/astro/pc-satel. The filename is TS216A.EXE. There is many
other satellite programs available too.
