I patched mouse.c so epoch::coords-to-point allows presses in the
minibuffer as well as mode lines.  I also patched mouse.el so that epoch
behaves properly for these extra presses.   My changes have not yet made it
into the official epoch distribution.

I also have patches to mouse.el to allow separate mouse-map entries for
window, mode line, and minibuffer presses.

Both patches are available for anonymous ftp from trantor.harris-atd.com in
/pub/gnu/elisp-archive.  The patches are in "basic-mouse.patch.Z" and
"extended-mouse.patch.Z".  Other files that might be of interest are:
	motion-grab.el.Z
	mouse-fncs.el.Z
	mouse-help.shar.Z
