What I did is: I've put our /usr/local tree available for anon-FTP :-) Don't expect anything very fancy in there, but they are ready to go executables. Even the manuals are there. Due to the problems I had/have with acl's and Unix right it looks like the FTP-user has enormous rights, but it has not. It only doesn't show. Some files are even not to be read at all. For this I've also patched the/my ftpd to prevent the anonymous ftp-user from uploading, deleting, renaming, etc. That version is also available.
