I am interested in reading whatever material is available regarding the techniques used in modern electronic car alarm systems. After having done a fairly thorough study of the makeup of the state-of- the-art alarm system which I had installed in my new car about a year ago, I am all but convinced that someone with a moderate amount of elec- tronic hardware knowledge could design and build something as good -- or better -- at a MUCH lower price than what I paid (assuming, of course, that you don't take into account the costs of your own labor :-}). If anyone knows of any recent books or articles on this subject, please let me know by mail. Let me emphasize that I do NOT intend to use this information for any illicit purpose. However, if someone feels strongly that this kind of stuff should be kept obscure, please send me a message explaining how you feel, and I will take such input into consideration when deciding how much (if anything) of what I find out I will summarize to the net. -- Rich Wales // UCLA Computer Science Department // +1 213-825-5683 3531 Boelter Hall // Los Angeles, California 90024 // USA ARPA: wales@UCLA-LOCUS.ARPA -or- wales@LOCUS.UCLA.EDU UUCP: ...!(ihnp4,ucbvax)!ucla-cs!wales
