You can FTP GNU Smalltalk from prep.ai.mit.edu (general home of most GNU
software), and other GNU software repositories (OSU, Stanford, etc.).
The GNU Smalltalk lives on prep in pub/gnu/smalltalk-1.1.tar.Z. This version
will operate on lots of different UNIX platforms, certain Atari's and Amiga's.
It doesn't have the fancy graphical user interface that commercial Smalltalk
implementations have, but it does have a simple X interface. The next release
will contain a better X interface, plus lots of other neat features, but it
won't be available until late March.
