Hello fellow Ircers!

There is a new irc client for VM called rxIRC, though it is written
in REXX it prooves faster than it's C rival since it uses *very*
efficient TCPIP routines in 370 Assembler, and also it is easy to
edit and modify, since REXX isn't to hard to understand even for
the unaquainted one.

rxIRC is available via anonymous ftp from 134.106.1.9 (which is
ftp.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de) in /pub/irc/VM/rxIRC.

It requires YWAKEUP (available from VM-UTIL) and REXTCPIP
(available by message from 98B110 at DOLUNI1 or by mail from
the writer: KXH105 at PSUVM)

==========================================================================

There also is an IRC Gateway for all BITNET users!
Bitnetters may access it by sending a message to 98B110 at DOLUNI1,
unless it crashed of course, but I hope it will not so soon.
You can get all necessary help information from the gateway.

If you want to install such a Gateway at your site you may do so
by getting the Gateway software which is available at the same
ftp site in /pub/irc/VM/Gateway plus getting the special server
code which is capable of the Gateway protocol, which is called
ircd2.6pre15ol4 and is placed in /pub/irc. It is not client compatible
to standard Unix client so if you wish to use it also yourself you
should also get the special ircII2.05ol4 version of ircII which works
together with that server. And of course you also need the REXTCPIP
which you either get by message to my gateway or by mail to the writer.

By the way: the special server has also some additional features
like AWAITing users to signon, ignoring users at server level etc. etc.
A part of these features will hopefully be included with the next
irc2.6* release so you won't need to use my excentric server code anymore.

That's all, folks!
I hope this is good news for you!
I'm going on a trip, journey, vacation, 2 months of freedom and sunshine..
But you will see me irc from Rome again... I can't be cured, I know.
Till then -
