KanjiTalk6.0.7 has released. Actually, I'm using it. In order to
get KanjiTalk6.0.7, you have to buy MacIIsi or LC or Classic in
Japan. Apple Japan(AJ) doesn't sell KanjiTalk6.0.7 alone NOW. AJ
will sell it alone soon. I don't know when. Some people say
KanjiTalk6.0.7 might have a bug and AJ doesn't want to sell it
alone now. At least I feel few troubles. Some troubles that
English version of System6.0.7 has are also available using
KanijTalk6.0.7.

>I am wondering if any of you are using scanners and optical

yet.

I don't think such products are available in Japan now. I've
heard of such a technology, but it doesn't seems to be popular
yet. Big Japanese computer companies are trying to establish
such a technic. There are too many characters to recognize in
Japanese KANA and KANJI. It takes time to establish such a
technic.

>Also, I would like to hear from anyone who regularly uses
>any of the Japanese cd-rom products.

One of the most popular and famous product is SONY DATA DISK MAN.
It's a handy small and it can use 8cm CD-ROM disk. Now various
CD-ROM disks are available. KOUJIEN, KENKYUSHA EIWA CHUU JITEN,
GENDAI YOUGO NO KISO CHISIKI etc. These disks are not so
expensive. For example KOUJIEN disk is 7500yen. I think DATA
DISK MAN brings us a kind of revolution of information.

Some of the Macintosh manias in Japan are trying to make an
interesting programs for Macintosh. It makes Macintosh with
CD-ROM drive to utilize 8cm CD-ROM disk of KOUJIEN and EIWA CHUU
JITEN. There are some version of programs. HyperCard stack and
CDEV. These programs are developing and changing rapidly these
days. You can find it at FTP site srawgw.sra.co.jp [133.137.4.3]
pub/Mac directory.
