Hopefully our systems support people won't get too choked up about this
announcement.

A number of people have been requesting information on where they
might be able to get postscript versions of the various gnu manuals. I
have made available, by anonymous ftp, from cs.ubc.ca (137.82.8.5) the
set of gnu manuals that we have built in the Computer Science Department at
UBC. Each manual is identified by its name and the distribution
version of the software the manual was built from. For example
emacs-18.57.ps.Z was built from the 18.57 distribution of gnu emacs,
but the manual may in fact be for an earlier version. In the emacs
case it is listed as being for version 18 with the last update to the
main body of the document being listed as February 1988. The one
exception to this labeling scheme is cpp-1.38 which was distributed
with gcc-1.39.0. All the files are compressed postscript so remember
to transfer them in binary mode. As always please CONFINE ANY MAJOR
FTPING TO LATE EVENINGS OR EARLY MORNINGS OUR TIME. Our site is in the
pacific time zone (GMT-8:00). The files currently available are:

           bash-1.04.ps.Z
           bison-1.14.ps.Z
           cpp-1.38.ps.Z
           emacs-18.57.ps.Z
           g++-1.39.0.ps.Z
           gcc-1.39.ps.Z
           gdb-3.5.ps.Z
           make-3.59.ps.Z

and can be found in src/gnu/manuals_ps

Any requests for these documents to be emailed will be ignored.
