CParaOPS5 is a compiled version of OPS5. It consists of an OPS5 to C compiler
and a runtime library. Both of these are written in C. It can be
configured to run on vanilla Unix boxes, Encore multimaxen running
Mach or Umax or multiprocessor Vaxen running Mach. When setup in the
uniprocessor configuration, both the compiler and the executables generated
for the programs can be run under any version of Unix.

It is available free but under license. The procedure is as follows:

1. I send you two copies of a license agreement by physical mail.
2. Someone at your organization signs *both* the copies and returns
   *both* copies to me.
3. I get it signed from the people concerned here and let you have the software
either by ftp or by magtape. I also send you a copy of the signed license
   agreement.

The license agreement is a standard one. You agree not to redistribute the
software without Carnegie Mellon's permission and you agree to let us have
any changes that you might make to the system. At some date in near future,
we will probably go public domain.

The system is reasonably stable. It is in regular use here at Carnegie Mellon
and several other sites in US and Europe.

Like most free software, this comes "as is" with no guarantee of support.

Currently, this software can be shipped only to sites in US, Canada, Mexico,
Australia and Britain. We expect that the export restrictions will be
relaxed in near future.

If interested, send mail to psm-requests@cs.cmu.edu or reply to this
message (acha@cs.cmu.edu).
