[net.auto] Upshift light, Vapor lock

This apparently never got out of 'spastic', so here goes again.

These comments relate to a trip last Friday and Saturday to Lime Rock. The
944 owner's manual says that, aside from the economy mode, the upshift light
goes on at full throttle when the next higher gear would give more power.
Indeed, that seems to be true, at least in 3rd gear around 6200 (redline
is 6500). Of course, lifting keeps the light on for the economy reason.

Some 914's vapor locked, and if it occurred in a turn, the car spun out. The
weather was hot, probably about 90 deg in the afternoon both days. One
person's solution in the past was to move the fuel pump to the front of
the car near the tank.  I thought that vapor lock went away in the late 50s;
is it still a problem with other cars? As an aside, one turkey in a 911 ran
out of gas in Big Bend and really spun out.
