Here are the instructions for obtaining the ST:TNG Program Guide files from
either of the ftp sites, or directly from my machine using anonuucp. Keep
in mind that the ftp sites will not be up-to-date until about a 1-2 weeks
after the stuff has been posted to the net. If you cannot ftp or use anonuucp,
the guide is available in printed form. Please send me e-mail for details.
FTP (Site 1)
The program guide is available via anonymous ftp, already patched. If you
are having trouble, or need another copy (for whatever reason), you can
get it by entering the following commands:
ftp mammoth.unr.edu or 134.197.40.241
anonymous or anon or ftp
<use your name for the password>
cd /pub/guides/startrek
binary

Some people have asked what to do with the files once they ftp the files
because they've never used tar, so here's what they should do:
uncompress sttngsrc.tar.Z
tar xvf sttngsrc.tar
For the PostScript files, use lpr or lp, or whatever your system has as the
print spooler.
If transferring the files to a SysV UNIX system, be careful to change the name
of the longer file names.
Other files may be available. Check with mikew@mammoth.unr.edu for details.
Always give Mike a couple of days to get the latest files ready after I release
them.
FTP (Site 2)
The following info is from the site administrator, as of the 4.03 release:

Directions:
To ftp a complete set of NCSB stuff, grab the tar files from each
NCSB-* directory. Or alternatively, grab all the files in the NCSB*/PSfiles/*
and ignore the tar files.
Note that if you HAVE NEVER RETRIEVED THE GUIDE, OR HAVE AN OLD VERSION, PLEASE
JUST RETRIEVE THE FILES IN NCSB-PS-403 OR TR-PS-403 AS PRINTING THIS WILL GIVE
YOU A COMPLETE SET.
DO NOT unpack all the PS files in a single directory! Unpack NCSB*400,
print it. Unpack NCSB*401 in a new directory, print them. Unpack NCSB*401
in a new directory, print them. Then take all the pages from the printing of
revision 400, and merge/replace them. Then take the output of the 402
revision print job, and merge/replace them into the 400-401 merged pile.
Note that all files ending in '.Z' are compressed, so please remember to use
binary mode.

ANONUUCP
The program guide files are also available via anonymous uucp from my system.
Here are the details:
Phone: 608-274-9275
Baud: 19200/2400/1200
Login: anonuucp
Password: none (it will not be asked)
The main directory is ~nuucp/guides. In there you will find a file called
dir.list. Get it, as it will list all of the latest files that are in the
guides' directory. After you get it, study it and then request the files
that you need. This area contains more than ST:TNG guides and lists. The
area will be under constant changes, as new lists and updates will be added.
For some reason there is sometimes a problem while logging in. When doing
the log in procedure, the anonuucp login name may sometimes have doubled-up
characters. This can be seen when using the -x9 option of uucico. If that
happens, add a delay between each character. In most cases this solves the
problem.
