[net.auto] Rolling roadblocks in Maryland

Good Grief! Don't these guys have anything more productive to
do with their time (and our money) than just to be Professional
Nuisances on our highways. I can see it now, a 15 mile traffic
jam that slows down an emergency vehicle enough to cost a life
somewhere. Or while these idiots are out there protecting us
from ourselves, a serious crime is being commited elsewhere that
could benefit from the extra resources. Who are these guys???
Do we ask for this kind of harrassment?? Kind of like Lent
year round I suppose. It seems obvious to me that if the Maryland
State Police can muster all these resources for such a pointless
exercise, then the good people of Maryland must have hired too
many of them. Probably something that should be rectified.

The problem is that Maryland is one of the few states where its been proven
that >50% of the cars go >55mph. The federal government has the right to
withhold federal highway funds from any state in which this is the case.
Since these funds make up a significant portion of any states highway budget,
the guys in Annapolis are in somewhat of a tizzy. Its not that the sloths
want to force people to go slow in particular, rather the Federal government
puts economic pressure on the state to do so....

Don't flame off at the staties. Someone thinks they should be
out catching crooks. Take a look at their title, "HIGHWAY
Patrol". They patrol the highways. If they are asked to
become a rolling roadblock, so be it. It's their job.
If the yuppie twits don't like it, don't go to Maryland.

Hey, dip-stick, then why do their uniforms and
cars say STATE POLICE? They are the police for the state.
You even called them "staties" yourself. Don't worry about names
though: Compared to local hick police departments, state cops are
better trained and much more professional. It's a waste of good
talent to play the radar/roadblock/etc. game.

Yuppies are very easy to spot on the net. First, they complain
that their rights are being stomped on by the collective laws
and regulations of the land. No matter what the law or
regulation is, they want it repealed so they can continue to
be obnoxious. The ME only attitude rises out of their postings.
If you will note, they want the right to tailgate, speed
execesively, change lanes at will, pass on the right, and
generally make a**es out of themselves on the highway.

As far as rolling roadblocks are concerned, that is the
State of Maryland's perogative. Those who don't like it can
find some other way to get around the state or put up with
the inconvenience. After all, it IS only an inconvenience.
Just like no left turns in Boston (except that one downtown
that puts you on a dead end street).

It seems that the only folks out there who take humbrage to
the yuppie remarks are those who seem to consider themselves
yuppies. Nuf said.
