They are stored in external files and are loaded at run time on demand. 2) There are programs to convert external input methods between human readable format (.tit) and cxterm loadable format (.cit), so that users can change the existing input methods or add their own input methods without recompiling cxterm. 3) The user can redefine keys to switch input mode (without recompiling cxterm). 4) Encodings other than GuoBiao (GB) are supported, such as BIG5. i.e. cxterm is encoding independent. 5) For GB coding, we have 3 builtin input methods, and 5 external ones, including IC (internal coding in hex), pin yin, pin yin with tones, etc. 6) For BIG5 coding, only input method IC is provided. I don't know any popular input method in BIG5. You may also need these X11 fonts: 8x18.bdf and cclib16st.bdf.Z (for GB), or 8x18big5.bdf and HKU-16Ch.bdf.Z (for BIG5). This version of cxterm is released to public domain. You are permitted to use, copy, modify, and freely distribute it. Thanks to all those who contributes to these software. Please send your comments, bugs reports, and suggestion to c-xterm@cs.purdue.edu. If you have any input method can be used in cxterm, we welcome your contribution. * New bug-fixed version of CELVIS (a Chinese vi-clone) ====================================================== A bug-fixed version of celvis (Chinese vi) is also available. This version of celvis works only in GB coding cxterm. An "ad hoc" emacs which can edit both GB and BIG5 code is available as a patch to GNU emacs. You can run it on cxterm. * How to get cxterm / celvis ============================ These software package are available for anonymous ftp from two sites: site IP addr ftp directory ---- ------- ------------- cs.purdue.edu 128.10.2.1 pub/ygz/ crl.nmsu.edu 128.123.1.14 pub/chinese/ Files are cxterm.tar.Z cxterm source code x-fonts/cclib16??.bdf.Z 16x16 GB coding Chinese fonts x-fonts/8x18.bdf 8x18 font (for cclib16*) x-fonts/HKU-Ch16.bdf.Z 16x16 BIG5 coding Chinese font x-fonts/8x18big5.bdf 8x18 font (for HKU-Ch16) celvis.tar.Z celvis source code cxemacs.tar.Z cxemacs sources The old cxterm is in "cs.purdue.edu:pub/ygz/cxterm-11.4.1.tar.Z".
