Perhaps as many as a thousand. The collections vary widely in size,
up to several gigabytes in some places, plus a few CD-ROMs mounted for
good measure.

Lower bounds on counts:
	433 in my .netrc file
512 in my comp.archives "homeof" database
615 in archie (unix sites only)
	779 in Jon Granrose's list.

Measurements are tough; sites come and go, names change, one "site"
may house several separate collections.

% telnet quiche.cs.mcgill.ca
** quiche is working its little CPU off with archie :-) If you can use it
    during off-peak hours (21:00 - 9:00 EDT (GMT -4)) you'll get better
    response times
archie> help
archie> list # lists all sites
