Which one should I work on? The latest client files is the gbII.client.tar and gbII.client.shar files. The ftp site compresses all files every so often and create the gbII.client.{tar, shar}.Z files. The gbII.1.4.3.tar.Z file is an older version that worked on most machines before the 2.+ series came along. The new_GB_client and GB_client have some bugs in them regarding map at universe level. The client_map_fix file fixes that and should be used if you want the older client. You should always compare the shar/tar files dates with the shar/tar.Z files. You can do this via the ls -l option. And will let you know which file was place last (and is the newest version). > Could someone enlighten me? Could someone [hint hint] put version >#'s and dates on all sh/tar files? Could someone clean up the scam >directory a bit, if that's the main src locale? Scam can only be cleaned up by the ftp site maintainer, and in the 9 months I've been playing with GB, I've seen him do that once. So don't expect that. > > Comments on adapting for RS/6000's appreciated. > > Also appreciated: Blitz daemons, w/ configurable # of minutes >between updates. > > Thanks for the time. >-- >David Wenger /NU/ACNS/& | "Its better to burn out than to fade away." > "Share and Enjoy" | "The past is a fiction designed to account for the >dave@casbah.acns.nwu.edu | discrepency between my immediate physical > "Thou art God" | sensations and my state of mind." -Douglas Adams Evan Koffler (Keeshans) ekoffler@du.edu -- comp.archives file verification scam.berkeley.edu total 979 -rw-r--r-- 1 210 ftp 15552 Jul 11 1990 GB_client.shar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 210 ftp 79739 Mar 12 22:37 GB_docs.shar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 278 ftp 8705 Aug 20 1990 GB_perl_client.shar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp ftp 290294 Apr 16 16:48 GB_server.shar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 210 ftp 2014 Aug 6 1990 GBmakingInstructions.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 210 ftp 14965 Sep 18 1990 client_map_fix.shar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 210 ftp 52625 Feb 26 17:16 gbII.1.4.3.tar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp ftp 64223 Apr 16 01:06 gbII.client.shar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp ftp 67353 Apr 16 01:10 gbII.client.tar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 32767 ftp 17645 Jul 26 1990 new_GB_client.shar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 210 ftp 88085 Mar 23 11:49 new_GB_docs.shar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp ftp 26122 Jan 23 02:40 xgb.core.shar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp ftp 26947 Jan 23 02:41 xgb.core.tar.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp ftp 213327 Feb 4 11:34 xgb_beta2.tar.Z found gb ok scam.berkeley.edu:/src/games/gb/
