See "INTRODUCTION" below in the README for an intro. Its main advantage over the earlier version is that you can gmhistify existing functions automatically, for example, to give all file-reading commands a file-history. See the gmhist-app.el file for examples on how to get a regexp-history (for these commands: keep-lines, flush-lines, how-many, occur, grep) and a shell-history (for shell-command, shell-command-on-region) and more.
