Hello and welcome to Music Makers. This is an informal newsgroup which
is unmoderated and deals with issues, events, equipment and just about
anything else that relates to music making. The purpose of this message is
to aquaint you with this message base and some "rules of courtesy". This
message is by no means complete and was created simply to try and make this
message base better. These are SUGGESTIONS not RULES and I have no means of
enforcing them (nor would I care to).
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
I have been compiling a list of musical "Jam Sites" where musicians can get
together and play/learn/teach and just have fun. Most of these are completely
informal and require no dues or fees. If you are willing to sponsor such a
group, or would like to have your group listed, please send mail to:

Rick Kulawiec is also maintaining list. However, his list contains mostly
night clubs where you are able to "sit in" on a set or "Open Mike" nights.

Michael Mills is also maintaining a list (price list that is).
It's the Usenet Musician's Pricelist, available via anonymous FTP from
nostromo.fac.cs.cmu.edu (128.2.242.243) in the directory /prices, or
through mail request to Michael Mills (mills@cs.cmu.edu).
Guy Klose is archiving the "Circle of 5th's" music theory discussion. If
you are interested in theory or have missed some posts and would like to
catch up, you can send him mail at (milo@mvuxi.att.com) with Circle of 5th's
Wanted in the message.
The following is not law. It is merely a suggestion which will probably
get you faster and more accurate responses to your queries.
SUGGESTIONS: When posing a question (about equipment, theory etc) please
include ALL relevant information (ie: what instrument/recording equipment/
processors/shielded cables-unshielded or what have you) so that you are not
bombarded with questions about what equipment you are using. You will be more
likely to receive a quick response this way. Also, try to make the message
title as explanatory as possible (eg: use a question mark to show that it is
a question) Please try and control your tempers and not waste bandwidth with
flames or derogatory remarks (save it for alt.flame) If someone posts
erroneous information, try and respond by pointing out the error without the
unecessary snide comments. Thank you for taking the time to read this and
please feel free to make suggestions for this post (or tell me that it was
a waste etc)
